Canada’s Industrial Relations Board ordered a resumption of operations at all affected Canadian ports from the morning of November 16.

Former Republican congressman from Wisconsin Duffy was a co-host on Fox Business, and also a former cast member of the MTV show “The Real World.”

The government may be forced to intervene in the strike, as it has done with recent port strikes, given the importance of the postal carrier to the economy.

The Cleveland-based investment firm had sought to remove then-CEO Alan Shaw early in 2024, moves before he was eventually ousted by the railroad.

The labor dispute comes as western Canadian ports locked out dock workers November 4, disrupting an estimated C$800 million in activity per day.

A leading business group called for government intervention to prevent costly economic damage.

The Port of Montréal Longshoremen’s Union, CUPE Local 375, called an unlimited strike on October 31 that directly blocks the Viau and Maisonneuve terminals.

The projects funded by the USDOT will expand rail connections at ports, replace aging bridges, and add modern locomotives to train fleets. 

The Port of Los Angeles long ago ran out of room to design and build new container terminals from scratch.
