Avery Dennison has developed a new ultra-high frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) inlay. According to the vendor, the AD-232 is especially suitable for the item-level tracking of assets, retail goods such as apparel, and other applications where proximity or stacking of goods is required. The unit is designed to perform on difficult-to-tag items such as denim apparel. It operates in the 860-960 MHz UHF band, performing across a wide range of applications. It fits easily into a three-inch-wide RFID label, Avery Dennison said. The vendor's partner in the project was NXP Semiconductors, whose UCODE G2iL series integrated circuit includes a tag temper alarm and privacy modes. The chip's extreme sensitivity allows for the use of small tags and quality performance in a high-tag population, the company said.
